5
Front-runners
Led or pressed in last start
8
Pressers / stalkers
Tracked within 3 lengths last out
7
Confirmed closers
Came from 5+ lengths back last out
20
Horses, one track
The most chaotic 90 seconds in sports
The front-runners — who wants the lead
These horses have shown a clear tendency to be near or on the front. Multiple speed horses from outside posts means the early fractions could be genuinely contested.
14
Potente front speed
Led or sat directly behind the leader in all 3 career starts. Won his debut wire-to-wire. From Post 14 he'll need to use energy getting across. Trained by Bob Baffert.
4
Litmus Test front speed
Led or pressed the pace in 5 of 7 career starts. Adding blinkers today — a focus aid that often signals the connections want him on or near the lead. Post 4 keeps him close to the rail.
24
Corona de Oro front speed
Led in his last two starts including a wire-to-wire maiden win. Draws the outermost post — may get a clean trip to the front once the field compresses into the first turn.
18
Further Ado presser
Won the Blue Grass pressing fractions. Gun Runner colt who has stalked or pressed in every start. From Post 18, Velazquez will have to decide quickly whether to send or settle.
8
So Happy presser
Won the Santa Anita Derby tracking 3-wide before taking over at the top of the stretch. Post 8 gives him a natural choice of pressing or sitting just off the pace.
The closers — who needs pace
These horses come from off the pace. They need the front-runners to tire each other out. If one speed horse steals a soft lead, this group is in trouble.
13
Silent Tactic closer
Has come from well off the pace in every graded stakes start. Won the Southwest from 11th at the quarter pole. Needs pace, needs a clean trip — needs a lot to go right.
19
Golden Tempo closer
Made a sweeping 4-wide move in every start. Won the Lecomte coming from last. Curlin colt — bred to get 1¼ miles — but his running style requires a perfect pace setup.
1
Renegade closer
The 4-1 favorite has closed powerfully in his last two wins. The rail is his biggest obstacle — if he gets buried in early traffic, his late run may come too late on the far turn.
The central pace question: Potente, Litmus Test, and Corona de Oro all want the front end. If all three press early, the half-mile fractions could be fast enough to set up the closers. If one steals a soft lead unchallenged — look out for the pressers who tracked them the whole way.

Graded stakes résumés — who earned their spot
Every horse in this field earned points to get here. Here's what their prep campaign actually looked like — the races they ran and what those efforts showed.
18
Further Ado 5 wins in 6 starts
KY Juvenile Cup → Maiden win → Allowance (wire) → Kentucky Jockey Club G2 (won) → Tampa Bay Derby G3 (2nd, beaten by The Puma) → Blue Grass G1 (won). The most complete prep résumé in the field. Beaten once — by a horse he's meeting again today.
15
Emerging Market unbeaten in 2
Maiden win (Tampa) → Louisiana Derby G2 (won). Two starts, two wins, zero defeats. Nobody knows his ceiling. Chad Brown trained, Flavien Prat up. The Louisiana Derby winner has a strong recent Derby record.
6
Commandment 4 wins in 5 starts
Maiden (CD) → Allowance (won) → Fountain of Youth G2 (won) → Florida Derby G1 (won). Has won every graded stakes he's entered. The only loss came in his maiden. Brad Cox trained.
1
Renegade 2 wins in 5 starts
Maiden (disqualified) → Remsen G2 (2nd) → SF Davis (won) → Arkansas Derby G1 (won). Two graded wins. His maiden was controversial — disqualified before a clean win next out. Pletcher trained, Irad Ortiz Jr. riding.
9
The Puma unbeaten in 2026
Maiden → Tampa Bay Derby G3 (won, beat Further Ado) → Florida Derby G1 (2nd, beaten a nose). Unbeaten in 2026. Has never finished worse than 2nd. First time going 1¼ miles today.
13
Silent Tactic 2 wins, 4 seconds
Won the Southwest G3 from 11th at the quarter pole. Four runner-up finishes in graded stakes. Always close — never a winner in a big spot. John Oxley homebred, Mark Casse trained.
7
Danon Bourbon 3 for 3 — Japan
Unbeaten in 3 starts, all in Japan. Won the Fukuryu Stakes last out at Nakayama on a muddy track. No Churchill Downs experience. No left-handed turn experience. Completely unknown quantity.
10
Wonder Dean (Jpn) UAE Derby winner
Won the UAE Derby G2 at Meydan on fast dirt. 2-for-6 career, best effort on fast dirt in Dubai. International path to the Kentucky Derby — familiar route, enormous question mark in a 20-horse field.
2
Albus 2 starts in 2026
Maiden win (Tampa) → Wood Memorial G2 (won). Two starts in 2026, both wins. The Wood Memorial is a classic Derby path — but Albus has only 4 career starts total. Light on experience heading into a 20-horse melee.
11
Incredibolt Virginia Derby winner
Won the Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs — an unusual path. Also won the Street Sense G3 at Churchill Downs last fall. Owns two Churchill Downs wins already. Pin Oak Stud homebred, Riley Mott trained.
⚠️ Knowing who ran where is the foundation — not the bet. The actual picks apply this résumé analysis alongside pace, class, draw, and value to tell you exactly who to bet and how to structure the ticket. That's the member report.

15
Emerging Market
2-0-0 in 2026 Two starts, two wins. Has never finished off the board in his career.
7
Danon Bourbon
2-0-0 in 2026 Unbeaten in 2026 — but both wins came in Japan on right-hand turn tracks.
6
Commandment
3-0-0 in 2026 Won all 3 starts this year. Has never finished off the board in his career (5 starts).
1
Renegade
2-0-0 in 2026 Won both 2026 starts including the Arkansas Derby. The 4-1 morning line favorite.
9
The Puma
1-2-1 in 2026 Won Tampa, second in the Florida Derby. Has hit the board in all 4 career starts.
13
Silent Tactic
1-3-0 in 2026 Won once, runner-up three times. The bridesmaid — always close in big spots.
⚠️ Earnings and records are context — not conclusions. The actual member report takes all of this and turns it into specific horses, specific bets, and specific exacta combinations. That's what you're buying access to.
Trainer spotlight — who has depth in the barn
Three trainers saddle multiple horses today. That depth changes how a race can be managed — tactically and strategically.
Cox ×3
Brad Cox — Commandment (6), Further Ado (18), Fulleffort (20)
The most powerful trainer in this field. Three horses spanning three different traffic zones — inside, middle-outside, and extreme outside. Further Ado won last out in the Blue Grass. Commandment won the Florida Derby. All three are legitimate.
Baff ×2
Bob Baffert — Litmus Test (4), Potente (14)
Two horses with completely different running styles — Litmus Test pressing with blinkers on, Potente as the primary front-runner. Both are first-time 1¼ miles today. Baffert's Derby record is unmatched.
Mott ×2
Riley Mott — Albus (2), Incredibolt (11)
Both horses owned by Pin Oak Stud. Albus won the Wood Memorial; Incredibolt won the Virginia Derby. Different paths, same barn. Mott is a meticulous conditioner known for patient preparation.
O'Neill ×2
Doug O'Neill — Pavlovian (16)
O'Neill won the Derby with I'll Have Another (2012) and Nyquist (2016). Pavlovian has been in the money in 7 of 10 career starts. A dangerous longshot from a barn that has stood in this winner's circle before.
Jockey spotlight
JV
John Velazquez — Further Ado (Post 18)
Multiple Derby wins. Post 18 forces an early decision — send to the front or settle wide.
IJ
Irad Ortiz Jr. — Renegade (Post 1)
One of the best in the country. Aboard the 4-1 favorite from the worst post. His first 200 meters will define the race shape.
FP
Flavien Prat — Emerging Market (Post 15)
Won the Kentucky Derby on Country House. Unbeaten horse, elite jockey. One of the most intriguing combinations in the field.
JC
Javier Castellano — The Puma (Post 9)
Hall of Famer. Post 9 gives him maximum tactical flexibility to read the race and make his move.
⚠️ Trainer and jockey angles are one layer of a multi-layer process. The picks combine all of this — draw, pace, class, connections, and value — into specific bets. You're seeing the work. The member report gives you the answer.
Six storylines that will define this race
1 — Can the favorite overcome the worst post in the race?
Renegade draws the rail — Post 1 — as the 4-1 morning line favorite. Post 1 has won only 3 times since 1990. Irad Ortiz Jr. must choose between saving ground on the inside and getting buried, or spending early energy to find a cleaner spot. At 1¼ miles that early energy matters enormously.
2 — Further Ado vs. The Puma: a rematch seven weeks in the making
In the Tampa Bay Derby, The Puma beat Further Ado by a length. Since then, Further Ado won the Blue Grass — the strongest prep in the field — while The Puma was nipped at the wire in the Florida Derby. Further Ado brings better recent form. The Puma draws the better post (9 vs. 18). Which matters more today?
3 — Emerging Market's ceiling is unknown — and that's the whole point
Two starts. Two wins. The Louisiana Derby winner trained by Chad Brown has never been tested under genuine pressure. That's either a massive red flag or the most compelling angle in the field. Today gives us the answer for the first time.
4 — Three horses want the lead. One will get it. The others pay the price.
Potente, Litmus Test, and Corona de Oro all carry front-running DNA. If they run each other into the ground through a fast half, the race sets up for closers. If one steals a clean lead while the others give way, a pressing stalker wins. This pace triangle is the tactical center of today's race.
5 — Brad Cox is the most important person in the paddock
Cox saddles Commandment (6), Further Ado (18), and Fulleffort (20). Three horses across three traffic zones. Three running styles. If Cox's horses run their races, at least one will be in the mix at the top of the stretch. The question isn't whether Cox wins — it's which one.
6 — Japan meets Churchill Downs: the international wild cards
Danon Bourbon (Post 7) is unbeaten in 3 starts — all in Japan, all running clockwise on right-handed tracks. Wonder Dean (Post 10) won the UAE Derby at Meydan. Both drew tactically ideal posts. But neither has navigated a 20-horse American dirt field, and both are adjusting from right-hand to left-hand turns for the first time.
⚠️ These storylines frame the race — but they don't tell you who to bet. The member report takes every one of these angles and converts them into specific horses, specific exactas, and a clear betting plan. That's what's behind the button below.
